How HomeworkPulse looks after the information that academies, teachers, students and parents trust it with.
Last updated 7 November 2026
In short
- Each academy owns its records. HomeworkPulse keeps them and works on them only for that academy.
- We never sell information, show ads, or build profiles of children.
- Homework pages are checked by an AI service. They are not used to train AI, unless the academy's owner agreed to it.
- Reports go to parents on WhatsApp only after the academy confirms that the parents agreed.
- An academy, a teacher or a parent can ask for a copy, a correction or deletion at any time.
Who we are
HomeworkPulse (homeworkpulse.in) is a homework app for teachers, tuition centres and coaching academies in India. It is run by Adarsh Pratap. In this policy, “we” means HomeworkPulse.
An academy decides which students and staff to add and what to record about them. The academy is in charge of that information. We store it and work on it only to run HomeworkPulse for that academy, as it asks.
What we keep
- About the academy: its name, city, academy code and settings, and the owner's name and mobile number given when it registers.
- About teachers and staff: their name, Staff ID and the classes they teach.
- About students: their name, class, roll number and student ID, and any other columns the academy chooses to add.
- About parents, where the academy enters them: up to two phone numbers and an email address.
- Schoolwork: the homework given, the photos and files of homework pages that are uploaded, marks, checking notes, attendance, and test results where the academy uses tests.
- Messages: which reports and reminders were sent, and when.
- Sign-in safety: PINs, kept only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the PIN, and counts of wrong PINs for each account and each network, so that guessing can be stopped.
We do not use advertising or tracking tools, and we do not follow anyone across other websites.
Why we use it
- So teachers can give homework and see who has done it.
- To check uploaded homework, where the academy has automatic checking on.
- To keep attendance, and to show each family its own child's work.
- To send reports and homework reminders to parents, where the academy turns this on.
- To keep accounts safe and to fix problems.
We do not sell or rent this information, and we do not use it for anything else.
Who helps us
We use a few companies to run HomeworkPulse. Each one gets only what its job needs. Their servers may be in India or in other countries.
Cloudflare
Hosts the website and the app, and stores the database and uploaded files. Its robot check (Turnstile) may appear on the sign-in and registration pages.
Meta (Muse) and Anthropic (Claude)
AI services that read uploaded homework pages and the homework's questions, to check them, where the academy has automatic checking on. Anthropic's AI also reads a photo of a class register when an academy uses one to add its students. Neither uses the pages to train its AI. The one exception: where an academy's owner agreed, its pages may go to a Meta model that Meta may train on. The owner's Automatic checking page says which applies.
Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform
Delivers reports and homework reminders to parents on WhatsApp, from the academy's own WhatsApp number or from HomeworkPulse's. It receives the parent's phone number and the message.
Resend
Sends reports to parents by email, only where the academy turns parent emails on.
WhatsApp messages
- An academy can send each family its child's reports, a homework reminder, and a Monday report on WhatsApp. Each academy turns this on itself, and must first confirm that the parents agreed.
- Messages go to the parent phone number that the academy entered. The academy can leave any family out.
- A message never contains a PIN, a sign-in link or a student's ID.
- An academy can connect its own WhatsApp Business number through Meta's own sign-up window. We then keep the access Meta gives for that number locked (encrypted), and use it only to send that academy's messages. The owner can disconnect the number at any time on the Academy details page, and the access is then removed.
- A parent who does not want WhatsApp messages can tell the academy, or write to us.
Children
Most students are under 18, so we take extra care.
- A student cannot sign up alone. Only an academy can add a student, and it must have the agreement of the student's parent or guardian before it does.
- Students sign in with an ID and a PIN that their academy gives them.
- A student or parent sees only that student's own work.
- No ads, no selling, no tracking, and no profiles for marketing.
- A parent can ask the academy, or us, to see, correct or delete their child's information.
How long we keep it
- While an academy uses HomeworkPulse, we keep its records so that teachers and families can look back.
- When a session ends, its finished records move into the academy's archive.
- Unfinished uploads are deleted after 7 days. A photo of a class register is deleted once it has been read. A list of students being imported is deleted after a day.
- When an academy stops using HomeworkPulse and asks us to, we delete its records and files within 30 days, and backup copies within 30 days after that.
Asking for a copy, a correction or deletion
- Academies: the owner writes to us (contact below). We send a copy of the academy's records, or delete them, within 30 days.
- Parents and students: please ask your academy first, because it decides what it records. You can also write to us. We will check that you are the parent, pass the request to the academy, and help it act within 30 days.
- Teachers and staff: ask your academy's owner, or write to us.
Keeping it safe
- Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS).
- PINs are stored only in a scrambled form. Nobody, not even us, can read them back.
- Each academy's records are kept apart from every other academy's, and our tests check this before every release.
- Uploaded files are never on public links. They open only through the app, for the people allowed to see them.
- Repeated wrong PINs are slowed down, and then locked.
- The keys for the AI and WhatsApp services are kept locked (encrypted).
No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects an academy's information, we will tell the academy quickly.
Cookies and this device
The front page and this page set no cookies of their own and run no analytics. Inside the app, a cookie keeps you signed in, and the device remembers your academy code. The app also saves drafts and waiting uploads on the device, so they are not lost. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top, and tell academy owners about any important change.
